Planning your own Funeral

Many people do not know that it is possible to pre-plan our own funerals. Usually, we do not think about our own funeral, as it is a personal and emotional topic. It is only when a close relative or friend dies that we may become aware of how important it is to make these decisions while we are living.

By planning your own funeral, it saves your loved ones having to make difficult decisions at a stressful and emotional time. It also allows you to plan for what you would like to happen.

See CPLEA’s booklet called Planning Your Own Funeral for more information about your options and rights in pre-planning your funeral.

This booklet provides information on the following topics:

  • where to get started pre-planning your funeral;
  • the law on pre-need funeral contracts;
  • burial;
  • cremation; and
  • the farewell ceremony.

The booklet also includes links to resources where you can get more information.
